Inspiring the Future has introduced three new event formats to better support senior secondary students preparing for their next steps beyond school. The new formats respond to feedback that older students need more focused, meaningful interactions that support exploration of career pathways, tertiary study and training options.
With a total of five event format options, the programme offers even more flexibility for schools and role models, reducing planning time for teachers and strengthening links between classroom learning and real-world industries. It also continues to inspire younger learners, broaden their horizons and challenge stereotypes around what’s possible for their future.
What’s new
The new event formats are:
- Career Chat – a role model speaks to a group of students and answers questions (ideal for smaller groups and all year levels)
- Career Discussion Group – groups of students rotate between role models for more in-depth, pathway-focused conversations (best suited to Year 11+ students)
- Role Model Interview – highly interactive, student-led interviews in pairs or one-on-one, creating personalised learning experiences (best suited to Year 11+ students).
Current formats haven’t changed
The new formats sit alongside the existing Guess My Job (previously called “Inspiring the Future in-person event”) and Online Career Chat (previously called “Inspiring the Future online event”) formats, giving schools and role models a broader, more flexible suite of options without replacing what already works.
Expanded event formats broaden reach across all students
Together, the event format options support students across all stages – from early curiosity through to deeper career pathway exploration and informed decision-making about future study, training and work.
