Role Model Interview event resources

Inspiring the Future Role Model Interview events involve participants interviewing role models about their careers for around 10 minutes, either 1:1 or 2:1, rotating around as many role models as time allows. You can break up the interviews with other career activities (for ideas, see the Tahatū career map – Tahatū Career Navigator).

These events work well for older secondary students as they allow students to take charge of their interaction with the role model, and can help them find out deep and logistical information about careers, sectors or pathways they might be interested in.

  • Recommended age group: Year 11+ (age 15+)
  • Length of event: Usually 30 minutes to 1.5 hours
  • Recommended number of participants: Up to 30
  • Theme suggestions:
    • Subject-specific, eg, science careers
    • Sector-specific, eg, IT careers
    • Pathway themed, eg, apprenticeship pathways.

Below is everything you need to run a Role Model Interview event. Read the step-by-step guide to find out how and when to use each resource.
