Guess My Job event resources

Inspiring the Future Guess My Job events involve panel sessions where participants try to guess role models’ jobs, followed by in-depth discussions in smaller groups.

These events work well for primary, intermediate and younger secondary students as they introduce a wide range of jobs participants may not know about, and challenge assumptions about careers.

  • Recommended age group: Years 3–11 (age 7–16)
  • Length of event: Usually 1.5–3 hours
  • Recommended number of participants: 30–200
  • Theme suggestions:
    • Broadening horizons and challenging stereotypes
    • Local jobs
    • Topics like the environment, related to a big sports event
    • Supporting transition to secondary school or subject selection.

Below is everything you need to run a Guess My Job event. Read the step-by-step guide to find out how and when to use each resource.

These resources are available in both English and te reo Māori.
